Position Title: Planner, Subcontracting 

Reporting to: Manager, Copacking 

Location: Chicago, IL

About the role: 

 

Under the management of the Subco Manager, the Planner, Subcontracting is responsible for demand and supply chain planning for third party manufacturers in North America. This person will work closely with multiple departments to ensure that customer requirements are being met 

 

Key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Plan & execute production capacity of subcontracted finished goods weekly/monthly (SAP flows) 
  • Work closely with replenishment planner & monitor daily execution to meet weekly/monthly/yearly targets 
  • Work with internal departments on subcontracting activities: local, demand and central planning, sales/customer service, sourcing, pricing, quality, marketing and logistics   
  • Overall inventory management with communication on shortages, delays and discrepancies 
  • Assist with building and maintaining relationships with co-manufacturers; identifying expectations & onboarding new partners (includes co-man visits when applicable)  
  • Manage any customer complaints regarding products produced at co-packers 
  • Provide any reports or analysis regarding products produced externally upon request 
  • Request and review end of month/quarter/year activities with subcontractors, investigating and reconciling inventory issues 
  • Proactively work with local planners to offset capacity issues at BC plants by providing subcontracting options 
  • Work closely with Subcontracting manager on product launches, changes and new developing projects for external production
  • Provide backup support for replenishment planner and subcontracting manager  
     

Education: 

 

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or related field

 

Work Experience: 

 

  • 2-5 years of experience in the Supply Chain/Operations function in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Previous experience with SAP and Business Objects beneficial
