This position plans and implements sales to foodservice distributor accounts for a geographic region where cultivating relationships, identifying opportunities, and account management skills are critical. The Regional Sales Manager will support the Northeast region, focused heavily on the Boston and Philadelphia markets.
Job responsibilities include
- Develop Metro NYC territory sales plan aligned with annual brand business plans and region objectives
- Manage direct and distributor accounts according to established sales and revenue goals and developing strong customer relationships.
- Manage and lead team of three Brand Developers supporting pull efforts with targeted end-user customers. Coordinate activities with key distributor partners to enhance channel partner relationships including key DSR’s
- Maintain effective sales forecasts
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing to optimize activities of the Chocolate Academy NY. Build Chocolate Academy awareness with NY end-users and support class sign-ups and attendance.
- Maximize contribution margin according to established goals with aggressive price and promotion management, contract management, monitoring/assisting with A/R balances, clearing deductions, production and supply chain resolutions, and new product development projects.
- Create and deliver sales presentations, business reviews, and product recommendations effectively.
- Develop and manage sales expense budget.
- Ensure that a high professional level of customer service is maintained via resolution of complaints, troubleshooting product supply chain problems, client visits, industry networking, participating in trade shows, gourmet chocolate training to distributor’s sales network, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date market awareness for key developments in both the direct and distribution landscape.
- Travel 40% in local market
About you
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 7 to 10 years of sales experience in a bakery or foodservice distribution environment.
- English speaking / Spanish a plus
- Proven creativity in prospecting, opening and growing account base
- Business acumen and demonstrated quantitative skills
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member
- Exercise professional conduct and sound judgment in all related areas
- Strong communication skills
- Teamwork and Cooperation – genuine intention to work cooperatively with others.
- Has proficiency in sales and full knowledge of the product line and its applications.
