The Director, R&D Product Expert will manage the product experts activity for the Americas including also the Innovation Program for Americas and the Premium Decorations and Inclusions business unit. The Director will be responsible for the management of the R&D Product Experts and for the projects based in the US, Canada and Mexico.  The Director will be responsible for contributing to the innovation and specialty strategy resulting in growth in volumes and margins. It is critical that this individual has a strong technical food science understanding and can help to steer the business.

 

Key responsibilities include: 


●    Managing the R&D personnel and projects based in different locations. Responsible for the administration, strategy and technical direction of the R&D product group. 
●    Providing necessary technical support to vendors, clients, and operations when problems occur with products.   
●    Participating actively in the various projects of the Research and Development team and help to set priorities. 
●    Work closely with Innovation team/Global R&D in Europe to help define the current Innovation program for Americas with modifications as necessary for this geography. Work with local, regional and international teams.
●    Work in close cooperation with the Sales, R&D Project Managers and marketing team to best present innovative products and specialties to customers and drive customer focused developments.
●    Assisting in the development of production expansion and the recognition of new equipment necessary to expand the specialty product portfolio to grow the business.
●    Identify, inform and organize project members and stakeholders, establish a team for innovation or large projects, organize Team meetings
●    Provide technical support to existing and new customers, and create new market opportunities
●    Support OSCO in defining business case for investment
●    Develop employees by creating individual development plans
●    Mentoring and coaching employees to ensure team effectiveness and engagement
●    Promote information and knowledge sharing with others
●    Drive continuous improvement initiatives re processes, technologies, and organization

 

About you:

 

●    At least 7-10 years’ experience with progressive management responsibility in the food industry, chocolate/cocoa experience preferred
●    Master in Food Technology Sciences, Food Engineering or Food Science or bachelor degree with relevant experience and solid technical food science knowledge
●    Relevant experience in food industry and proven leadership abilities
●    Be resolute, capable of working under pressure, priority setting and managing many projects simultaneously
●    Able to work with local, regional and international teams
●    Excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal relation skills
●    Have a strong analytical mind, strategic and pragmatic be flexible
●    Willing to travel as needed
