About the role:

Barry Callebaut is looking for a proactive, 'hands-on' leader who will be a key member of the region Americas Operations and Supply Chain Organization. The successful candidate will direct daily operational activities within a group of Chocolate Manufacturing sites to improve safety, quality, cost, productivity, reliability, sustainability, and service performance. The Director, Manufacturing will ensure all initiatives are relevant and consistent with overall business strategy and goals. 

 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Contribute to the success of the North American business
  • Oversee multiple locations including sites in the Midwest, West Coast and in Mexico
  • Develop and drive implementation of Regional strategies into the manufacturing facilities including a focus on factory performance, reliability and optimization
  • Work cross functionally to ensure business objectives are understood and delivered through the manufacturing sites
  • Focused on structuring and organizing teams, developing team members and ensuring continuity and succession plans are in place
  • Lead by example
  • Develop and be accountable for operations, capital, and productivity budgets
  • Drive a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ensure that all operations facilities comply with internal rules and external legislation related to quality, safety, environmental, and ethical requirements
  • Ensure that the equipment and technology used throughout the operations sites is capable of handling the short, medium and long-term requirements

 

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Operations, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an Operations Management position, multi-site experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated success in assessing, developing and retaining top talent
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements, adhere to budgets, and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Highly motivated, hands-on, results driven, forward thinking professional who can thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be able to travel 50% of the time
  • Food Manufacturing experience desired
  • Solid understanding of OSHA, and food safety regulations and procedures
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • High level of organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and technical skills
  • Training in lean manufacturing concepts. (Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus
