About the role: 

The Director of Accounting and Reporting for the Americas region leads the accounting activities in accordance with group (IFRS) accounting principles and standards and acts as the head of  the “Center of Expertise” (COE) for Regional specific accounting topics. This job ensures the accuracy of the region’s financial statements and compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, as well as reporting requirements. The Accounting Director equally leads and directs the Credit Controlling sub-department as well as credit management activities in accordance with the organization’s credit policies to safeguard an acceptable level of credit risk for the region. The Accounting Director is directly responsible for US, Canada and Mexico accounting function and has dotted line responsibility for Brazil and Chile.  The Accounting Director reports to the Regional Chief Financial Officer, and closely interacts with Group Accounting and Reporting, Regional and Group FP&A, Group Tax and the Finance Shared Service Center.  The role also manages other internal relationships with the various functions which interact with Accounting & Reporting.  The Accounting Director is responsible for developing, supervising and providing guidance to the three direct reports (two Accounting Managers; one Credit Controlling Manager) and their respective teams.   


Key responsibilities include: 

•    Prepare, analyze and review, the monthly closing process at reporting unit level as well as regional consolidation.  
•    Govern the quality, consistency and integrity of internal and external financial information (e.g., financial statements, notes and supplementary information) for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
•    Support external auditors on conducting interim and yearly audits including dispute resolutions
•    Work together with external providers and Group Tax to ensure the completion of Federal and State direct and indirect tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use and other local taxes).
•    Apply and monitor compliance controls (internal controls and regulatory standards) to ensure company assets are safeguarded and financial results free of material misstatement
•    Identify, implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives regarding processes, technologies, and organization
•    Mentor, coach and develop employees to ensure team effectiveness and growth

About you: 

•    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar
•    Master’s in Business Administration preferred
•    Professional qualification preferred (CPA or similar)
•    Strong IFRS knowledge in particular with IFRS 9
•    Minimum 10 years of experience in finance as a manager with an emphasis on accounting
•    Experience in a multinational company, preferably in B2B / food industries
•    Strong SAP knowledge (FI/CO, SD/MM, BW) plus Excel and PowerPoint
•    Self-motivated with a positive attitude, flexible and able to adapt to change
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect people, motivate and convince others to drive change
