The Safety Coordinator performs assigned duties to ensure each designated manufacturing site conforms to regulatory and corporate environmental, health and safety policies. This individual serves as the site contact for EHS related matters and is responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating pertinent activities, processes and procedures to ensure the safety of all employees at work.


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Act as the main contact for safety related matters for each designated manufacturing site.
  • Facilitate implementation of safety programs and required EHS standards for manufacturing sites.
  • Conduct risk assessments to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Document and maintain records of all incidents including near misses for monthly reporting.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and action plan development for all recordable incidents.
  • Conduct regular safety tours and safety talks and document attendance for weekly/monthly tracking.
  • Track the progress of action plans and provide updates to Plant Managers and other team members as needed.
  • Coordinate with HR Generalist to ensure required training is assigned and completed by all employees.
  • Understand and keep current with OSHA and other governmental regulations.
  • Review contractor safety guidelines and practices to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.
  • Organize and lead plant Safety Committee, coordinate plant monthly meetings, serve as contact/presenter for monthly regional Safety Meetings, review committee audits and findings, implement recommendations as applicable.
  • Coordinate LOTO and other pertinent maintenance procedures with Maintenance Manager for compliance.
  • Must promote a safe working environment and adherence to GMP’s.
  • Perform all other related duties as requested


About you:

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management or related field is required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, food industry preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, OSHA 10hr Certification preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledgeable of Microsoft Suite
  • Self-started who thrives in a dynamic and fast-pace environment
  • Ability to work in a team and motivated others
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time between Robinson and Chicago locations
