Production Operative

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role offers the chance to join a rapidly growing business within Barry‑Callebaut’s Beverage division, working as part of a team of up to 12 operators responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the production and processing department. You’ll play an active part in a site that is launching multiple continuous‑improvement projects, giving you the opportunity to contribute to meaningful operational enhancements.
The core purpose of the role is to take full ownership of a designated manual packing machine and its surrounding area, ensuring it operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will uphold exceptional Health & Safety and Quality practices by following all procedures and completing production, QDS, GMP, and downtime documentation accurately and in full compliance with requirements.
You will follow the daily production plan, prepare and verify the correct packaging materials, and support the delivery of Beverages UK’s targets across volume, quality, safety, and efficiency. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive a positive Health and Safety culture and behavior.
- Timely quality checks of the product
- Adhere to site Highlight GMP issues. Good housekeeping
- Operating production machinery, line set-up, recipe curation and tipping.
- Ensure finished products are correctly packed to target in line with company and customer expectations.
- Drive GoForZero initiatives/targets.
- Good appreciation of high standards of hygiene including Allergen cleaning.
- Give support and direction to the machine operator support team.
- This role will also require manual handling & Packing up to 1kg of dry powdered product into a box.
- This role may also require you to lift upwards of 25kgs in paper sacks.
ABOUT YOU
- 2+ years’ experience in a FMCG environment including food manufacturing method`s, understanding of standard operating procedures (SOP`s), one point lessons (OPL) and hygiene standards. (Essential)
- Experience of continuous improvement and problem solving (Knowledge)
- Experience in a culture that promotes a high standard of Health and Safety (Essential )
- Experience in a culture that promotes a high standard of quality and food safety (Essential )
- Food Safety Level 2 preferred but not essential
- GCSE’S Math's and English
- Good understanding of Health and Safety requirements
- HACCP knowledge preferred
- Manual Handling training preferred
- FLT license preferred but not essential
- Good communication skills, written and verbal (Essential )
- Good numeracy skills and the ability to capture data in “real time” (Essential)
- Experience with scanning system technology (Desirable)
