About the role:
The Site Quality Manager oversees the Quality Assurance Program to ensure compliance with the Barry Callebaut QMS, GFSI standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The role drives a culture of “Safety, Food Safety First, and Quality Always,” acts when issues cannot be resolved locally, and leads continuous improvement through lean principles. The manager ensures that all plant policies and procedures for Quality, Food Safety, and Sanitation are compliant and sufficient to meet or exceed internal, regulatory, and customer standards.
Key responsibilities:

Develop and lead the QA team, building capability to achieve strong performance in all Quality, Food Safety, and Hygiene metrics.

Manage customer, regulatory, certification, and corporate audits, visits, and inspections, ensuring proper follow‑up on all CAPAs.

Lead food safety programs, ensuring full implementation of the food safety plan, sanitation standards, food defense, and vulnerability assessments.

Support resolution of customer complaints by completing RCA cycles and ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions.

Collaborate with Operations, R&D, and Sales on new product introductions and site‑to‑site transfers to ensure quality and compliance.

Oversee sanitation standards, local laboratory equipment, QC materials, and inventory needed for quality operations.

Ensure timely and appropriate decisions on non‑conformities, out‑of‑spec materials, and other Quality/Food Safety issues.

Maintain an effective Document Management System, ensuring updated control documents, compliant product labeling, and proper batch release procedures.

Establish and track a balanced scorecard with key quality indicators, driving continuous improvement and long‑term quality planning.

Manage QA budgets and CAPEX needs, lead issue‑management teams, and perform other duties required to uphold food safety and regulatory compliance.
About you:

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science or equivalent (or engineering degree with 7 plus years in food quality assurance)

Minimum 5 years’ experience in food safety, including formal HACCP training, pathogen environmental monitoring and testing

Formal training in FSSC22000 or BRC

Certification in a quality management system such as ASQ preferred

Knowledgeable in MS Office Suite, SAP Systems and other applications used in manufacturing e.g. scheduling, CMMS, MES, etc.

Travel requirements: occasional 10% to 30% based on assigned project locations.
Compensation: Annual Range: $121,280 - $151,600 CAD
Working Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm
