ABOUT THE ROLE 

Mission : Manage the safety, health and environment on the site. Implementation, and driving of SHE standards based on the group global strategy .

 

  • Ensure the conformity of the site  to the local regulations on health and safety and environmental aspects.
  • Building a SHE culture inside the plant based on the BC global strategy. Partnering with management team,  workers, unions and to reach a “0 accidents” culture throughout the plant;
  • Implementing and rolling out a management system to develop a Safety Culture and  improving HSE (leading and lagging) KPIs;
  • Proposing and communicating SHE policies, ensuring that the plant is are complying with European and local regulations in EHS, supporting local management;
  • Leading and giving guidelines to local teams.
  • Promote engineering improvements in a “set from design” mindset for assets;
  • Develop training (with HR support) to help create a safety shared mindset within management and operating roles.
  • Lead  investigation and implement actions for EHS accidents;
  • Ensure that SHE return on experience and best professional practices are shared inside the organization
  • Recommend and ensure adequate  follow up of action plans after audits;
  • Manage internal and external relationships on behalf government requirements and internal policy compliance;

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES INCLUDE

 

  • Ensure adherence to SHE local regulations.
  • Maintain and strengthen safety culture on the site
  • Ensure all Life Safe Principles (LSP), procedures and guidelines are implemented, maintained and enforced.
  • Ensure adherence to SHE aspects of SMETA/CODEX 95 are accomplished
  • Ensure adherence to BC Loss Prevention Standard is achieved
  • Identify and take the lead in solving (potential) unsafe situations.
  • Ensure all staff are aware and appropriately trained for the applicable risks of their work environment. And continuously reduce these risks.
  • Assure compliance with environmental regulations and permits
  • Support and lead initiatives working towards reducing the carbon footprint of the site
  • Stimulate and guide teams to work on continuous improvement, solving problems, provide guidelines, help to prioritize.
  • Develop and maintain an optimal daily service level based on the agreed SHE year plan
  • Provide leadership and guidance to create an EHS thinking workforce within the plant.
  • Provides active support to operations management in their internal goals to improve a safe workplace behavior
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Deploy the Barry Callebaut objectives for EHS (Policies & Procedures, instructions, registration forms, control charts)
  • Ensure & lead implementation of the Go for Zero roadmap with outlook for 3 years
  • Responsible for creating, monitoring and  guarding the 3 year MTP budget plan
  • Being a driving force for continuous improvement, accept no loss

 

  • Optimize the physical security of Barry-Callebaut premises and (intellectual) properties based on the BC Food Defense and Site Security standard (remark Rob: practice shows that Physical Security/External services report to SHE department)

 

ABOUT YOU

 

  • Professional SHE master education
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a leading role in the manufacturing/ FMCG sector.
  • Relevant experience  in the area of Environment,  Energy Management and/or maintenance, but also and other waste reductions/management is a huge differentiating factor;  
  • Continuous Improvement mind-set
  • Strong management and training background.
  • Ability to think strategically yet also have a hands-on approach
  • Ability to interact across all levels in the organization and build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Fluent in English
  • Has work experience in so called pro-active/generative mature organizations
  • Process Safety knowledge and has HAZOP facilitator expertise
  • Is an example for others, is a leader who ensures that individuals and groups buy into the strategy, plans, goals, climate and policy
  • Develop and emphasize behaviors, by improving safety empowerment and commitment on the shop floor and within the organization, as part of Continuous Improvement (CI), sharing safety leadership for creating additional value to the Company Performance, considering safety is the key for quality assets;
  • Gemba focussed
