About the role:
As a Gourmet Sales Manager for Romania, you will be responsible for driving Barry Callebaut’s growth in the gourmet segment by building strong customer relationships, managing distributors, and expanding our presence across the country. You will play a key role in shaping our market strategy, identifying new opportunities and positioning our brands with excellence.
This role combines hands-on field activity with strategic commercial leadership, working closely with the SEE Gourmet Sales Director and regional marketing teams..
Key responsibilities:
- Promote Barry Callebaut’s gourmet portfolio through regular customer visits (confectioners, pastry shops, bakeries, hotels, restaurants).
- Assess customer needs and recommend the right products, solutions and services.
- Respond to inquiries, negotiate within defined authority levels and close sales to meet revenue targets.
- Identify and acquire new customers, distributors and business partners to strengthen the distribution network.
- Manage distributors in how they supply, sell and promote BC brands; coordinate Trade Marketing and Technical activities.
- Build Chef‑to‑Chef relationships and engage in chef associations to enhance brand visibility.
- Prepare and execute marketing activities in collaboration with the regional marketing team.
- Develop weekly, monthly and annual sales plans and manage own schedule to deliver targets.
- Handle administrative tasks such as Salesforce updates, reporting, price list management and other regional duties.
About you:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Sales or Marketing.
- 5+ years of sales experience, ideally in FMCG or another multinational environment.
- Strong commercial skills in negotiation, presenting and customer engagement.
- Knowledge of the chocolate or gourmet industry is a strong plus.
- Adaptable, quick to learn, comfortable with new sales and marketing approaches.
- Fluent English and Romanian (written & verbal).
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating sound judgement and professionalism.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset, high emotional intelligence and impactful communication skills.
- Financial acumen and ability to manage priorities effectively.
- Self‑motivated, results‑oriented and comfortable with regular travel (approx. 60%).
