About the role:

 

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing process equipment to maintain a hygienic environment that supports the safe production and packaging of high-quality products. As part of their daily responsibilities, the Sanitation Technician ensures strict adherence to food safety and employee safety standards.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure equipment and facility areas are properly cleaned and sanitized in compliance with GMPs and the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).

  • Maintain general housekeeping standards across all plant areas.

  • Safely operate powered and non‑powered cleaning equipment such as lifts, pressure washers, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and compactors.

  • Follow safe lifting, carrying, and handling procedures; report defective equipment and all job‑related injuries.

  • Disassemble and reassemble processing equipment (machines, pumps, bucket elevators) as required for sanitation activities.

  • Learn and apply proper Allergen Elimination Procedures and adhere to all hygiene and safety guidelines.

  • Use appropriate PPE in accordance with OSHA requirements, plant GMPs, and supervisor instructions.

  • Read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safely prepare, mix, handle, and store chemical cleaning agents.

  • Support spill containment, pest control reporting, and waste removal; participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives (including 5S).

  • Maintain certifications such as LOTO and BBP; attend required safety and development training; perform other assigned duties, including mandatory overtime when required.

 

About you:

 

  • High School Diploma.

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment is an asset.

  • Experience with floor scrubbers, including ride on, walk behind and handheld.

  • Working at Heights and Arial Lift Certification.

  • Must be able to freely move around the entire facility.

  • Must be able to lift 25lbs.

  • Exposure to excessive noise, heat, cold and dust.

  • Mild chemical exposure.

  • Stooping, Kneeling, Bending, Working from Heights, Smelling

  • While performing some of the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.

 

Compensation: Hourly Rate: $25

Working Hours: Continental shifts 6:45am to 7:00pm / 6:45pm to 7:00am

Shift Details: Day Shift / Night Shift
