About the Role:

 

The Cell 1 Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, melting, and processing of various raw materials, including cocoa butter, oil, liquor, and butterfat, to support production requirements. This role also includes powder handling activities within the Powder Room, such as material dosing, weighing, and dumping operations. The Cell 1 Operator is cross-trained across all Cell 1 functions and may be required to operate an overhead crane, vacuum lifts, powered walkies, and forklifts to facilitate material movement throughout the facility. A strong commitment to food safety, quality, operational excellence, and employee safety is essential in all aspects of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and stage raw materials for melting and powder handling operations according to production requirements.
  • Start up, operate, and monitor melting and powder processing equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations while meeting quality standards.
  • Verify production orders, material usage, and inventory accuracy, including SAP transactions and tank inventory management.
  • Safely melt, transfer, and handle materials while maintaining product integrity and inventory control.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment, including sanitation activities and documentation requirements.
  • Perform equipment inspections, quality checks, and safety verifications to ensure reliable operation and compliance.
  • Accurately complete production, quality, sanitation, and safety records while communicating operational updates during shift transitions.
  • Support all Cell 1 activities, including melting, powder handling, material movement, and operation of certified material handling equipment.
  • Comply with GMP, HACCP, food safety, quality, safety, and continuous improvement requirements, including BCOS, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

 

About You:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or industrial production environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and food safety standards.
  • Ability to perform physical work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 55 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility, frequently climb stairs, access elevated work areas, and work comfortably at heights around industrial processing equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions and wear required PPE while complying with all health and safety requirements.

 

Compensation: Hourly Rate: $25
Working Hours: Continental shifts 6:45am to 7:00pm / 6:45pm to 7:00am
Shift Details: Day Shift / Night Shift
