About the role
The Managing Director Iberia oversees all functional areas within his/her unit and leads the organization. He/she leads Gourmet and Food Manufacturing (FM) sales activities in Spain & Portugal, manages his/her assigned direct reports to execute the commercial strategy, business plan and delivers budgeted / forecasted volumes and margins. The ability to cultivate internal and external relationships, identify opportunities and develop market and account specific plans is critical. The MD has the overall responsibility of Barry Callebaut’s business in Spain and Portugal. He/she reports to the President Western Europe and secures close collaboration with the three Barry Callebaut locations in Spain: plants in Reus & Gurb and Sales Office in Barcelona.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading, directing, and controlling the activities for the region, so that it achieves its short and long-term commercial, financial and operating objectives (for example increased profitability, productivity, or market share) as set by the overall corporate business plan.
- Responsible for coordination of all local activities in the different areas, in order to realize an efficient cooperation between all departments.
- Having EBIT responsibility, is responsible for realizing the margin / turnover / EBIT as described in the BC budget
- Motivating, coaching and supporting staff to ensure the overall performance of the team and achievement of business goals in a positive working environment
- Establishing and building strong client relationships over time that allow for continuity and ongoing representation, reinforced by sales support/delivery programs, and communications to other relevant company functions/divisions.
- Monitoring competitive activity in the region and ensuring that appropriate response strategies are formulated and communicated.
- Translating the BC group and the regional strategy into an Iberia strategy and driving the implementation in the area of responsibility.
- Contributing with relevant information and proposals from a functional and local perspective to the regional strategy.
About you
- Bachelor’s / Master's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or any related field
- 10+ to 15+ years of sales and leadership experience in a food related industry
- Fluent Spanish and English is a must;
- Fluent in Catalan is a plus
- Experience of working in a multinational business context
- Experience in working in matrix structure
- Outstanding commercial skills with strong negotiation ability
- Strong skills to manage senior stakeholders, both internally as externally
- Excellent implementation skills (hands-on) with a good understanding of translating strategy & concepts into action plans
- A clear ability to lead and to think beyond boundaries, and challenge the status quo.
