Are you keen to work in an exciting and fast-paced manufacturing environment to become a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer? Our Chocolate factory in Banbury, Oxfordshire has partnered with the Midland Group Training Services to ensure our Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship (Level 3) offers the most rounded learning experience possible.
You earn while you learn on our4-year Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship scheme. The majority of your first year will be spent at college (MGTS in Coventry) where you will meet like-minded people and build your knowledge. For the remaining years, you will split your time between college and working within our maintenance department to re-enforce on the job learning.
As a fully qualified and multi-skilled mechanical and electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the equipment at our Chocolate Factory remains operational by maintaining and repairing the assets. You will also be responsible for diagnosing and investigating complex faults, responding to incidents, and reporting on failing assets.
The skills you develop will include:
- Mechanical applications and solutions
- Electrical wiring, testing and installation
- Robotics
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Process Control Systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside a team of highly skilled engineers to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance and identify opportunities and implement solutions, to improve manufacturing efficiency and equipment reliability
- Work safely, with regard for your duty of care to yourself and to others who may be affected by your work
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times
- Keep others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company
- Work with MGTS external assessor to produce workplace assessment training plans
- Attend lectures, practical’s and visits as per the training provider learning plan
- From day one, you’ll be on a permanent Barry Callebaut contract, enjoying a competitive starting salary, an annual pay increase linked to performance and unit completion, and lots of benefits.
On completion, you’ll be a fully-fledged Maintenance Engineer, holding a Level 3 engineering qualification and looking to a bright future with our business. For the right people, there may be an opportunity to study for further qualifications, such as a Level 4 qualification.
Entry Requirements:
- 5 x GCSEs at grade A*-C / 9-4 (or equivalent) to include English and Maths
Training Provided:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 2 Award for Foundation Phase Gateway Assessment
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
Things to consider:
The first year of the apprenticeship will be based at the training provider in Coventry, so the successful candidate must be willing to travel for the first year, of the job training. The £16,000 salary for the first year includes a contribution for travel expenses for the first year off the job training at the Coventry Technical Centre.
Future Prospects:
Upon successful completion of the four-year programme, an individual assessment will be carried out by Barry Callebaut to determine whether a full-time position will be offered.
