Barry Callebaut is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products and our Gourmet division offers us the capabilities to reach a fast-growing segment of professional users of chocolate (chocolatiers, pastry chefs, bakeries, hotels, restaurants and caterers) in the UK market. 

 

A unique opportunity has arisen within our UK Gourmet Team for an accomplished Account Manager to join us on a permanent basis. As the Account Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the delivery of volumes and profit for selected accounts within the division. 

 

The position will directly oversee the success of a core network of accounts within a specified geographical territory and grow them through strategic planning to increase both volumes and margins. We’re seeking those with a true passion for food and, whilst it isn’t essential to the role, those with a strong NPD or technical food experience would complement the nature of the department.  

 

Regular travel will be involved in the position, but we’re happy for you to be home-based with most of your time spent seeing clients. Key Skills

 

  • Responsible for the delivery of Accounts Strategies with specific ongoing plans to include detailed account plans, sales budget for volumes and margin on base chocolate, decorations, cocoa powders, filling and other RTU products in combination with providing business solutions meeting customers’ demands and needs.   
  • Collection and analysis of information, and provision of conclusions from sales figures and account information
  • Based on information and knowledge make recommendations where appropriate - new products, range extensions and marketing tools.
  • Monitor and control relevant rolling budget targets.
  • Develop and enrich close contact with key personnel beyond the buyers, including NPD teams, marketing, and sales 
  • Manage the Academy link to provide innovative application solutions for general trade, directed to build volumes and profit.
  • General Account Management- Pricing, forecasting, contract management, customer complaints, New Product introductions to launch additional administrations duties, monthly report presentations.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • A demonstrable track record working within the food industry is essential to the role
  • Proven experience in Sales, Account Management or Business Development 
  • Basic Food Hygiene qualifications
  • Ability to present new ideas and grow the brand awareness amongst the existing accounts
  • Previous experience using Salesforce would be helpful but experience with similar systems will also be considered
  • Ability to recognise the potential for growth in accounts and maximise opportunities.
  • Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent team player who can also work independently
  • Proficiency with MS Office Packages
