The QA Coordinator will ensure that plant operations and all products manufactured comply with the Quality Standards and Requirements established by Barry Callebaut Corporate, the FSSC 22000 standard, and our customers. This role is responsible for monitoring, updating, and reporting process information related to suppliers, raw materials, operating conditions, labor, in‑process product, packaging materials, finished product, and warehouse and shipment logistics.  Additionally, the QA Coordinator will demonstrate ownership of plant quality performance, including adherence to applicable regulatory and corporate quality requirements.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Conduct analytical testing of products; sample during process and conduct QC tests; This includes developing, implementing, and overseeing the sensory evaluation program to support product quality and consistency.
  • Manage, maintain, and ensure accuracy of all controlled QA documents, including updates and revisions as needed.
  • Lab Calibration Program and training of standards by maintaining a clean lab and calibrating laboratory equipment, operating and training manuals for laboratory equipment and track calibration schedules for all plant equipment and ensure appropriate personnel are trained.
  • Plan, execute, and report on internal audits to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Monitor inventory levels, order materials and supplies (QA lab).
  • Assist with new employee orientation and training.
  • Ensure government and company minimum requirements and policies are respected.
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Oversee the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) program, ensuring timely resolution of non-conformities and continuous improvement.
  • Provide support for any food safety incident.
  • Support all Quality Culture, Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and sales teams to ensure the effective and timely execution of new and transferred products. Oversee and coordinate planning-related activities to optimize operational efficiency
  • Comply with all department and customer specific quality, safety, FSSC 22000, and food safety policies and procedures
  • Manage and control block stock and rework materials, ensuring proper documentation, traceability, and compliance with company and customer quality management systems as part of the traceability program. Oversee the retention samples program to guarantee proper storage, tracking, and utilization, while collecting and reviewing production activities and records as required.
  • Oversee the hold and release process for materials and products to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and report on FTQ indicators, implementing actions to improve product performance and quality
  • Track and respond to any incident/concerns raised related to QA ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of open items. Support on incidents related to FS as needed.

 About you: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Food Science or equivalent experience preferred
  • 1 year of experience in food safety and/or manufacturing.
  • Special knowledge expertise with GMP’S, HACCP, Quality Systems, Standard Operating Procedures, test methods and taste testing skills.
  • Must be willing/open to work on weekends and evening shifts if needed
  • Must be willing to do sensory test chocolate and raw ingredients
  • General knowledge of food technology. Good working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, and FSSC 22000 (or equivalent GFSI standard).
  • Correspond and interact professionally and ethically with all levels of the organization and customers/vendors.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths and ability to work effectively with a team are required (computer software skills to include LX, Google Work Apps, Word, Excel and Power Point required
  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, report writing)
