ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

Under the supervision of the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager, the Senior Data Analyst supports the strategic management of sustainability activities by ensuring the accuracy, analysis, and effective use of data collected through MEL projects. Working closely with field operations teams, this role is responsible for designing data architecture, building decision-support tools, and automating analytical processes to enable clear, precise, and impactful reporting. The Senior Data Analyst plays a central role in ensuring operational excellence and contributes significantly to the overall success of Barry Callebaut’s sustainability initiatives.

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES INCLUDE 

 

The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for the following activities:

 

Data Analytics management

  • Turn field data flows into actionable insights to improve farmer livelihoods and manage environmental impacts.
  • Consolidate, clean, and structure multi-source data to ensure reliable ESG indicators.
  • Develop predictive models to anticipate climate and economic vulnerabilities.
  • Model the impact of Sustainability program initiatives on the resilience of farming households.
  • Integrate social and environmental data for a comprehensive 360° view of sustainable performance.

 

Development of decision-support tools

  • Design strategic dashboards to monitor KPIs by region, value chain, and sustainability pillar.
  • Co-develop operational indicators with country teams (training, certifications, agroecological practices).
  • Provide comparative analyses of impact programs to guide investment decisions.
  • Support the preparation of Clients reports.

 

Robust and scalable data architecture

  • Define clear and scalable data schemas to efficiently capture ESG information.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency through validation protocols and governance frameworks.
  • Guarantee interoperability between local MEL systems and the Group’s BI platforms.
  • Develop internal standards for documentation, quality control, and versioning.

 

Automation of analytical processes

  • Automate Extract Transformation and Load (ETL) pipelines for critical cocoa sustainability indicators.
  • Build data cleaning and analysis scripts in Python/R for real-time insights.
  • Deploy automated alerts on KPI drifts or inconsistencies to proactively manage risks.

 

Development of dynamic and visual monitoring tools

  • Design and implement dynamic, up-to-date tracking solutions for sustainability activities and KPIs.
  • Create automated reports and visually engaging dashboards tailored to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, relevant, and timely reporting.

 

Supporting data-driven cultural transformation

  • Translate business challenges into clear analytical stakes, accessible to all.
  • Train and coach field teams and junior analysts on data visualization and strategic interpretation.
  • Co-facilitate collaborative analysis workshops to refine hypotheses and challenge findings.

 

 

ABOUT YOU

 

 

Required qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Analytics, Data Science,Computer Science or Business Intelligence.

 

Professional experience

  • At least 5  years of experience in data analysis and management applied to sustainability, ideally within the agricultural sector, with deep knowledge of the cocoa value chain and related ESG issues.
  • Proven experience coordinating and supervising cross-functional analytical projects in collaboration with multi-site field teams and external partners, within an international and multicultural environment.
  • Valid driver’s license, with full availability for regional travel.
