About the role


  • Energy management to identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) in order to achieve reduction and effective utilization of energy. To provide management of plant improvement projects to meet GMP / Safety / Quality / Production as well as CAPEX costing and submission requirements. Management of overall Maintenance team operations covering Utilities, Facilities, Buildings & Grounds, Plant operating equipment, Contractors management, and Maintenance Cost budget expenditure control.
  • The Engineering Manager is also committed to our Food Safety and Regulatory requirement within the organization.


Key responsibilities include


Project Management: Manage and drive projects for improvement.

  • Main lead in coordinating with respective department managers for identifying improvement needs for plant operation requirements; thereafter preparation and submission of Capex Budget for management review.
  • Preliminary feasibility studies follow up with preparation and compilation of Capital Expenditure Cost Breakdown; Project descriptions and justifications; Quotations; for IP-Capex submission.
  • Management of plant and process upgrading projects. Coordinating with functional managers to address and meet Quality; Safety; Production and Maintainability requirements.
  • Plan & organized resources including subcontractor management for detailed project implementation; taking proactive steps to minimized disruption to Production and Operation activities.
  • Identify critical infrastructure; propose solutions and improvement works to provide redundancy and sustaining plant operations from unnecessary disruptions.
  • Lead Project / A&A works to ensure that it is completed within the given timeline and budget.


Energy Management: Manage energy consumption related to Factory Cost and Savings.

  • To project, forecast and prepare Energy Budget and KPI base on the projection of increased activities / new installation of equipment.
  • Monitoring of the overall consumption of Electricity, Gas, and Water. Driving team members to share and present data to effectively identify abnormal energy consumption resulted from leakages or losses.
  • Identify Energy Control Measures (ECM) project and perform detail feasibility studies targeting at reducing energy consumptions / effective usage of energy to achieve cost savings.
  • Liaise with Authorities (NEA) for any matters pertaining to compliance with the Energy Conservation Act.


Preventive Maintenance: Responsible for developing, drive an effective maintenance programme to sustain plant operations.

  • Provide mentoring; coaching and at the same time challenge team member’s on alternative and better ways of working to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Prepare, monitor and control the maintenance budget expenditure; Approval of purchase requisition, categorization of cost center expenditure for spares and maintenance services;
  • Motivate and drive the maintenance team towards maximizing equipment performance and runtime; identifying gaps on maintenance regime and fine-tune the areas for improvements.
  • Driving team members to identify critical spares and inventories; study critical services providers’ requirements to target minimal disruption to plant operations.
  • Monitoring of the preventive maintenance schedule progress; work with functional managers to synchronize maintenance service along with Production / Operations pre-plan stoppages to achieve minimum disruption to plant operations.
  • Main Lead in the Major shutdown for coordinating a detailed program and liaise with functional managers; contractors; authorities in the execution of the servicing work.


Quality / Safety: Implementation of effective quality and safety compliance system.

  • Cooperate with QA/EHS lead to implement and maintain the Quality / EHS requirements.
  • Participate in reviewing Product / Service complaints; root cause analysis and support improvement / modification work to address; eliminate and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Participation in BRC, AVA, customer and local audit to fulfill and maintain quality standards and requirements.
  • Participate in HACCP / EHS team to discuss; update; improve and finally communicate any changes to the Quality / EHS system.
  • Maintaining and ensure CCP / audit documentation pertaining to Maintenance regime have fully complied.
  • Follow up the complaints and implement the corrective actions. CAPA



About you

  • University degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering preferable in a technical field (food industrial, M&E construction and automation engineering degree)
  • Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the management of projects, maintenance of buildings, facilities, utilities, in a manufacturing plant environment and preferably with food manufacturing experience.
  • Good management background
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, coaching, negotiation skills and ability to lead and motivate team.
  • Strong planning, organizing, coordination and leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and proactively complete projects
  • Excellent time management skills, sense of responsibility with the ability to multitask and work under tight schedules.
