About the role: 

 

Quality Assurance Technician

The QA Technician performs analysis as per Barry Callebaut Policies and Procedures.  The technician is to coordinate the schedule and work of junior technicians and generate required weekly, monthly reports.  The technician must be able to communicate and interact with appropriate personnel pertinent information and data as required.  The technician must possess the ability to manage daily activities as well as multiple urgent requests in a professional and timely manner. Understand principles of Food Safety, Laboratory Safety and Quality Assurance and Control.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Know and understand Food Safety Principles:   HACCP, GMP’s.
  • Know and understand Laboratory Safety Principles, GLP’s and safety procedures.
  • Know and understand Microbiology (preferably as it pertains to food) Principles.
  • Always conduct self in a safe manner as per Barry Callebaut Policy.
  • Committed to providing a safe food product
  • Works within all regulatory requirements
  • Ability to adhere to GMP practices and all other food safety requirements
  • Maintain work areas, laboratory areas and rooms in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment for testing and inspection in a safe, clean and professional manner.
  • Maintain records, logs and notebooks.
  • Retain records properly as assigned.
  • Enter data into the Quality Module of SAP accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct transactions in SAP as required.
  • Maintain, update procedures, and conduct required and appropriate training (in QDS) as required.
  • Perform testing and inspections as it pertains to analytical, foreign material and sensory testing, review results and communicate non-conformances, maintain appropriate logs.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring program and corrective actions, GMP’s as assigned.
  • Train and update fellow staff and plant personnel in quality test procedures and methods as required.

 

About you:

 

  • BA/BS degree (Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in the food industry or related GMP regulated industry desirable.
  • Understanding of food safety and GMP principles desirable.
