The Project Manager, R&D - Innovation will be the Technical Project Lead responsible to design desirable, feasible, and viable solutions that bring to market the Barry Callebaut (and/or customer’s) Innovation pipeline on time and in full. The incumbent will be the Project Manager Office for selected high profile and/or complex Innovation projects. 


Key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Define the technical requirements that fit a sought-after consumer experience that will be the basis of the work at Feasibility stage (i.e. Product Development Brief)
  • Owns the design, coordination, and execution of the technical path to solution of the entire project (inclusive of laboratory and factory trials). Leads, collaborates, and challenges all technical functions (process engineering/controlling, regulatory, Q&FS) to define resource needs, assess and mitigate risks, CapEx or new raw material requirements
  • Manages and communicates to Marketing Project Owner and (senior) stakeholders all aspects related to the Technical Readiness Level of the project, makes recommendations, and influences decision making
  • Manages one of raw material categories for the Region (e.g. flavors). By interacting with Barry Callebaut sourcing, suppliers, and R&D ensures Barry Callebaut maintains the minimum and appropriate portfolio of raw materials
  • Working closely with the Marketing project owner, defines, initiates, plans, designs, monitors, and closes the project
  • Leads and holds accountable team members to assess and manage risks, drive decision making, and ensure adherence to timeline, milestones, and overall objectives
  • Leads communication chain with cross functional team, manages conflict resolution, and develops monitoring methods and provides corrective action if necessary
  • Defines meeting agendas & objectives ensuring they are met, takes minutes, and promptly distributes them
  • Communicates & escalates project status/issues with senior stakeholders when needed

 

About you:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology Sciences, Food Engineering or Food Science; Masters highly preferred
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in the food industry, knowledge of confectionary sector is a plus
  • Proven record of delivering complex innovation projects
  • Resolute, capable of working under pressure and managing many projects simultaneously
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal relation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Growth mindset, not afraid of failure
  • Knowledge of Word,  Excel, Powerpoint, and especially Project Management software (e.g. MS Project, Clarizen, etc.) is required
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and SAP will be an asset
