About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Customs and Trade Agent to join our team at our cocoa facilities in France. You will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Customs Declarant in Louviers, ensuring smooth and compliant import and export processes.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily customs operations and documentations.
  • Handle export and import declarations for all non-EU shipments.
  • Prepare and submit declarations for ocean, air, and road shipments.
  • Assist in AEO program audits and follow-ups.
  • Verify origin for liquid and solid shipments under trade agreements.
  • Conduct RITA tariff code classification.
  • Attend both physical and documentary customs controls.
  • Provide backup for the Senior Customs Declarant.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Analyze customs data for trend tracking and strategic reporting.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and third-party logistics for timely processing.
  • Assess and mitigate risks in customs processes.

 

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in customs and trade, with a preference for French customs knowledge.
  • Proficient in English and French (oral and written) to communicate effectively with customs authorities and factory employees.
  • Strong knowledge of French import/export laws and customs declaration tools/software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word) and ERP systems (SAP).
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle variable inputs and follow up on incomplete information.
  • Initiative, problem-solving skills, and consistent results delivery.
  • Travel: Up to 15% travel to Louviers factory.
