About the role:

Under the responsibility of the Credit Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the department meets the credit and collection needs from external and internal clients.  This position is responsible for establishing credit limits for new customers in the US, daily collection of all assigned past due accounts, managing/enforcing credit limits and terms, conducting annual reviews for existing customers and other credit related/affecting functions.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Interpret and analyze credit reports, Financial Statements and credit references in order to evaluate credit worthiness of customers. Make written recommendations for credit limits.   Approval authority up to $60,000 USD
  • Responsible for conducting annual reviews (or as required) of clients’ financial standings.
  • Ensuring follow-up of orders and order hold releases throughout the day.
  • Manage portfolio collections of overdue invoices and resolution of deductions as required to achieve departmental/ company DSO goals.
  • Enforce customer compliance to terms and conditions of credit by communicating and educating customer of departmental policy, and when required, recommend credit hold (for Mgr. Approval).
  • Process deductions, research the cause of deduction, and ensure follow-up.
  • Respond to numerous incoming calls/emails from external and internal clients.
  • Manage EDI customers ensuring that billing is completed and that payments are made according to terms.
  • Hold monthly (or as required) sales-credit conference call to discuss top customer delinquency with the goal of resolving customer delays, non-payment or any other credit related issues.
  • Assist the Credit Manager Collection agencies placements, prepare the file for reference and follow-up until reception of payment or file closure.
  • Serve as backup for daily cash posting of payments received.
  • Complete reconciliation of all incoming payments.
  • Manage customer’s information including contacts, credit/collection process and other important information for each assigned customer.
  • Assist Credit Manager in creating new processes and procedures for Credit Department.
  • Assist manager with misc. projects as needed (i.e.ad hoc Month end reports or GL posting).


About you:

  • Minimum Associate Degree in business or related field.
  • 3-4 yrs. Credit and Collections experience (preferably in the food industry).
  • Highly preferred Spanish Speaking candidate.
  • Basic understanding of general accounting.
  • Excel proficient (including V-Lookups).
  • Experience with SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, time management, problem-solving, negotiation, computer & presentation skills
